Bangkok: People are expressing their anger over the recent shutdown of the debate on information operations (IO), with prominent figures criticizing Mr. Pichet Chueamuangphan, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his decision to prohibit the no-confidence debate. Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn accused him of being ignorant and submitting to military influence, while Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul described the situation as dangerous, highlighting that even the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense were oblivious to the operations.
According to Thai News Agency, key political figures, including Mr. Chaiyaphon Satondee, MP for Bangkok, Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, and Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, expressed their concerns following Mr. Pichet’s decision. Mr. Chaiyaphon confirmed that the documents related to the IO were genuine and sourced from individuals within the police and military who were involved in the operations aimed at attacking the public. Despite being barred from discussing these matters in the House, Mr. Chaiyaphon vowed to continue sharing information through party channels.
Mr. Wiroj criticized the Pheu Thai Party for potentially trying to protect key figures like Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra. He emphasized that some military factions were operating independently, posing a threat even to the Prime Minister, who is the Director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). He lamented the lack of action from the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai. Mr. Wiroj questioned the Pheu Thai Party’s readiness to govern and accused Mr. Pichet of lacking the courage necessary for his position and yielding to military pressure.
Mr. Pakornwut also voiced his frustration, asserting that Mr. Chaiyapol was silenced from discussing the military’s actions, which were part of the no-confidence motion. He criticized Mr. Pichet for preventing the debate and highlighted the Prime Minister’s responsibility as the Director of ISOC. Mr. Pakornwut called the incident a disgrace to the House of Representatives and a threat to the inspection mechanism. He expressed grave concern over the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense’s unawareness of the military’s actions against the public and urged the public to judge the situation critically.
