Bangkok: Keep an eye on "Bird Wanwangwan" as he's about to face another charge after a sealant company filed a complaint today.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Major General Chachapan Klaiklung, Deputy Commander of the Technology Crime Investigation Bureau, revealed that the Crocodile Grout Company has initiated legal proceedings against "Bird Wanwangwan." The company, known for its caulking products, filed a lawsuit under the Computer Crime Act. The charges fall under Section 14 (1), which deals with the introduction of distorted information into a computer system that could create public panic. The potential penalties include imprisonment of up to 5 years or a fine of up to 100,000 baht. In cases involving an individual or a juristic person like Crocodile Grout Company, the penalties could be imprisonment of up to 3 years, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both.
Regarding "Bird Wanwangwan's" legal situation, his lawyer had initially arranged a meeting with the Cyber Police for May 6th, but the police have requested a postponement to the end of the week. On the rescheduled date, the police may also add another charge to the existing assault charge already filed by Phra Pradaeng Police Station.
With respect to the blocking of "Bird Wanwangwan's" channel, the Cyber Police have suggested to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society that some platforms should be shut down. However, platforms like X and YouTube remain unblocked due to their overseas bases, requiring coordination through the Attorney General and the MLAT system. If "Bird Wanwangwan" voluntarily closes his channel or removes the content, it would indicate acknowledgment of his mistake and that the content should not be accessible to the public. Individuals sharing "Bird Wanwangwan's" content are advised to delete it immediately, as the penalties for sharing are equivalent to those for posting.
Meanwhile, the chainsaw company has not contacted the cyber police yet to file a report, though they are encouraged to do so. Additionally, if the Tourism Authority of Thailand believes that "Bird's" content has harmed Thailand's tourism image, they are also advised to file a report with the cyber police.
