Bangkok: Police have arrested a customer who ordered gun parts online and resold them to a group responsible for the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old. Metropolitan Police Division 2 detained the individual after he confessed to supplying the parts used in the tragic incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the arrest took place at approximately 7:30 AM on January 31. The operation was led by Pol. Col. Athibodi Sermsuk, Superintendent of the Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Division 2, alongside other police officials. They executed a search warrant issued by the Criminal Court and raided a house in Soi Phaholyothin 59, Anusawari Subdistrict, Bang Khen District, Bangkok. During the raid, Mr. Kanitin, also known as "Foke," aged 23, was apprehended. Authorities seized evidence, including a Thai-made .38 caliber revolver, various rounds of ammunition, all hidden in a drawer on the first floor of the house.
This arrest follows an earlier incident on January 27, when police from the Investigation Division, Provincial Police Region 1, cracked down on an online shop illegally selling gun barrels. The investigation revealed that these gun barrels were shipped to customers nationwide, including to Mr. Kanitin. Collaboration between the Investigation Division, Provincial Police Region 1, and Metropolitan Police Division 2 led to the intelligence gathering, warrant acquisition, and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
During questioning, Mr. Kanitin admitted to possessing the firearm and various ammunition, which he had purchased to resell to teenagers. He also confessed to previously selling to a group of teenagers involved in the shooting death of a 13-year-old in the Bang Khen area.
Initially, Mr. Kanitin was charged with possessing firearms and ammunition without a permit. He, along with the seized items, was handed over to investigators at Bang Khen Police Station for further legal proceedings.
