Customs and FDA Launch Training Course for Health Product Importers

Bangkok: The Customs Department signed an MOU with the FDA to develop a training course for health product importers and exporters. This course will enhance knowledge, speed up safety inspections, and support Thai entrepreneurs in achieving GIP Plus standards.

According to Thai News Agency, the Customs Department has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to create a training program for “Importers and Exporters of Health Products.” The initiative aims to augment academic and legal expertise, enabling businesses to conduct import procedures in alignment with international standards. The collaboration is spearheaded by Mr. Teerat Rattanawanich, Director-General of the Customs Department, and Dr. Surachok Tangwiwat, Secretary-General of the FDA, marking a strategic partnership between health regulatory bodies and customs.

This joint effort is anticipated to streamline the import process of health products, ensuring it is faster, more accurate, and transparent. The initiative is expected to build trust among consumers and international business partners, enhancing the safety and efficiency of health product imports.

Currently, 30 health product importers are certified under GIP Plus (Good Import Practice Plus) criteria. This certification underscores the Thai business sector’s dedication to quality, good governance, transparency, and social responsibility. It plays a crucial role in supporting the nation’s economic and public health systems, ensuring consumer confidence in health product quality at every stage.

To support this collaboration and facilitate new entrepreneurs in achieving GIP Plus standards, the FDA and the Customs Department are accepting applications for the “Importers and Exporters of Health Products” training course. The course is scheduled for September 17-18, 2025, at the Grand Richmond Stylish Convention Hotel in Nonthaburi Province. Interested parties can apply and find more information on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.
