‘Customs e-Invoicing Plus’: Digital Customs Procedures

Bangkok: The Customs Department has launched the "Customs e-Invoicing Plus" project, upgrading the customs clearance system to a fully digital format, facilitating exporters and reducing paperwork and business costs. Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department, stated that the project aims to improve systems and processes to align with digital trade by allowing access to import documents electronically through the Thailand National Single Window (Thai NSW) platform. This will reduce paper documents, streamline workflows, and increase the efficiency of customs clearance.

According to Thai News Agency, the Customs e-Invoicing Plus system also allows customs officials to verify information in real-time, reducing errors from redundant data entry and minimizing the need for additional documents, unless absolutely necessary for customs control.

For the initial phase, the Customs Department has designated completely built-up (CBU) and electric vehicles (EVs) as pilot product groups, due to their importance to the country's industries and their technical complexity. This will significantly speed up customs clearance procedures and reduce costs for businesses.

The Director-General of the Customs Department reiterated that the Customs Department aims to act as a 'Trade Enabler,' supporting smooth international trade through modern, transparent, and low-cost systems to enhance Thailand's competitiveness in the global trade arena.
