Customs Officials Seize Over 35,000 Smuggled Items in Ranong Warehouse Raid

Ranong:Customs officials and military personnel conducted a raid on a warehouse in the Mueang Ranong district, confiscating over 35,000 smuggled items, including claw crane machines, mobile phone accessories, and car parts, valued at more than 7 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department, stated that the operation aligns with urgent policies set by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance have highlighted the need for stringent measures to prevent and suppress illegal activities, encompassing raids at airports and border checkpoints, and inspections of warehouses in high-risk areas.

On October 7, 2026, the Customs Department, through Customs Region 1, collaborated with the Ranong Customs House and the task force from the 2nd Battalion, 25th Infantry Regiment, to conduct a thorough search of the warehouse in Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province. The search resulted in the discovery of a vast array of items, all imported without customs clearance, which is a violation under the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017). Legal action will be pursued regarding this offense.

The Director-General emphasized that the purpose of this operation extends beyond economic protection against smuggled goods; it is also to safeguard consumer welfare from potentially substandard and low-quality products. The Customs Department is committed to carrying out detailed operations and strictly enforcing the law across all areas.
