Bangkok: Cyber police have successfully apprehended a 45-year-old man, identified as Mr. Wanchai from Nakhon Sawan, who was wanted on a warrant for defrauding the public in a case that involved a national football player losing over 2 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded in December last year when a prominent Thai League and national football player reported being defrauded while seeking an online loan service. The victim discovered a website advertising loan services and engaged with the provider via Line. Following the instructions given by the scammer, the player ended up transferring money 12 times, amounting to 2,696,950 baht, under the pretext of processing the loan transaction.
