Defence Ministry to launch mobile app to enlist public’s help on national security affairs

Defence Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanich revealed that at the meeting, Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has reiterated his earlier policy which emphasize the safeguarding of important locations and the counteracting of distorted information.

This was revealed after a national security meeting chaired by Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan yesterday.

In this regard, he called for particular vigilance at this time and for a major effort against misinformation that could undermine national stability.

He has ordered all surveillance cameras be checked if they function and for a public network to be established to enable better understanding of any incident.

Gen Prawit also called for public's help, asking them to use their mobile phones to film or record any suspicious activity.

He said in near future the ministry will launch a mobile application that will seek help from the public to give information to authorities on national security threat affairs directly.

He urged all people to be play an active role in helping the government on this issue.
