Democrat Party Calls for Honest Elections to Combat ‘Grey Capital’ Threat

Bangkok: The Democrat Party (DP) has issued a call for honest elections as a means to combat the influence of "grey capital" and prevent the inheritance of a detrimental legacy that could lead Thailand into a political void. Mr. Thanaporn Somsri, a candidate for Member of Parliament in Ubon Ratchathani Constituency 1, highlighted this concern through a recent post on his personal Facebook page.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Somsri emphasized that for over 40 days, he has been actively engaging with the residents of Ubon Ratchathani, seeking their support to establish a foundation of honest politics. He articulated that the critical decision facing Thai citizens today is not merely a choice between political parties, but a choice to reject the "grey area," which he warns could plunge the nation into a political black hole.

The phenomenon of "grey capital" infiltrating politics presents a significant threat, taking on various forms. Should "grey capital" gain control of state power, its impact could become deeply rooted, perpetuating a legacy of wrongdoing from one generation to the next. Mr. Somsri expressed his belief that the Democrat Party stands as a robust political institution dedicated to fighting against "grey capital." He urged for public support to halt this menace for the benefit of future generations, particularly the nation's children.
