Bangkok: The Democrat Party (DP) has announced Anucha Burapachaisri as its candidate for the Bangkok Governor position, emphasizing the potential for more than just governance with three key attributes highlighted by the party.

According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, introduced Anucha Burapachaisri as the party's candidate for Bangkok Governor and revealed candidates for all 50 Bangkok Metropolitan Council seats. Vejjajiva reiterated the party's commitment to teamwork in Bangkok, reflecting on past challenges in gaining public trust. He emphasized the party's readiness to drive the city's development, highlighting achievements such as their four consecutive terms in Bangkok and the introduction of the first-ever mass transit system for Thonburi residents. The party aims to transform Bangkok into a central hub for AI, stressing the necessity for a capable, honest, and experienced leader who can collaborate with all stakeholders. Burapachaisri was nominated for his extensive experience in addressing public issues, strong political reputation, and commitment to integrity, even amidst a polarized political landscape. Abhisit assured that Burapachaisri possesses the essential qualifications to aid both the Democrat Party and the city of Bangkok.

Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri shared his motivations for entering the race under the Democrat Party's banner, admitting that local politics was not initially in his plans. However, he is now committed to enhancing Bangkok's livability, envisioning it as a "City of Angels" with improved quality of life. Burapachaisri seeks to address issues such as environmental challenges, waste management, and flooding, aiming for greater convenience, cleanliness, and comfort for residents. Despite opinion polls suggesting the Democrat Party's lagging popularity, he remains undeterred, confident in gaining the support of Bangkok's residents. He believes the proposed policies will genuinely benefit the people of Bangkok and expresses hope that the citizens will recognize the party's dedication to bringing positive changes and restoring happiness to the city.
