Bangkok: The Department of Disease Control has issued a clarification following an incident involving its Facebook page viewing a sexually suggestive live stream that has been trending on social media.

According to Thai News Agency, the department's Facebook page was reported to have viewed an inappropriate video that circulated widely on various social media platforms. The incident reportedly occurred on May 23, 2026, at approximately 10:00 PM, when the page administrator was engaged in publishing an infographic titled "Ebola Virus Infection: 10 Questions and Measures for Entering Thailand for Travelers from High-Risk Areas."

At 10:34 PM, the page administrator accessed the inbox and noticed a warning message alerting them to a potentially harmful live stream containing inappropriate sexual content. Upon clicking the link, the administrator found the content to be unsuitable and immediately logged out. Despite this, other users noticed the activity, captured screenshots, and shared them extensively, resulting in negative feedback directed at the agency.

The Department of Disease Control has pledged to expedite an investigation into the matter and to reassess its verification processes and management of official accounts to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The department emphasizes its dedication to upholding government communication standards, ensuring the appropriate use of social media, and preserving public trust.
