Department of Probation Sets 11 Conditions for Thaksin Shinawatra’s Parole

Bangkok: The Department of Probation has disclosed 11 conditions that Thaksin Shinawatra must adhere to during his parole period, effective from May 11, 2026, until September 9, 2026. The parole, announced following the Sub-Committee for Consideration and Decision on Conditional Suspension's resolution, involves the fitting of an electronic monitoring device by probation officers from the Bangkok Metropolitan Probation Office 7 and requires Thaksin to report to the Bangkok Metropolitan Probation Office 1 within three days of release.

According to Thai News Agency, the conditions for Thaksin's parole include residing with a sponsor at a designated address, complying with all legal regulations, and engaging in honest work. Thaksin must inform probation officers of any changes in address or employment. He is also required to follow probation officers' instructions, participate in rehabilitation activities, and report to authorities monthly.

Thaksin is prohibited from leaving the provincial area without permission, engaging in disgraceful conduct, and associating with individuals who may influence him to commit further offenses. The conditions also restrict him from involvement with volatile or illegal substances, firearms, and explosives, and from contacting non-relative detainees.

The parole conditions emphasize accountability, requiring Thaksin to present his suspension certificate to officials upon request. In the event of a lost certificate, immediate notification and replacement are necessary. Violations of these conditions may lead to the revocation of parole, as the probation officer will report any infractions to the subcommittee for further action.
