Bangkok:Deputy Interior Minister Polpeer Suwannachavi expects water levels in the flood-affected areas to return to normal within 2-3 days and is spearheading efforts to deliver assistance to residents of the Keha Rom Klao housing estate.
According to Thai News Agency, Suwannachavi, accompanied by his son, visited the Rom Klao housing community in Lat Krabang District to distribute rice and drinking water to flood victims. He conveyed the concern of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to the residents and stated that various cabinet ministers have been deploying teams to assist flood victims across different areas.
Suwannachavi reported that after monitoring the situation and engaging with residents in the Rom Klao community, a coordinated effort resulted in the delivery of 6,000 ready-to-eat meals from the Ministry of Interior's OTOP kitchens, the Department of Community Development, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Additionally, 10,000 bottles of drinking water were provided by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority. Despite a decrease in water levels on the main roads, many areas remain severely affected, with water still exceeding 1.30 meters in some parts.
To support the community further, dry food items such as rice, canned fish, cooking oil, and relief bags were delivered with assistance from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Suwannachavi has coordinated with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to repair sandbag dikes and expedite the drainage of floodwaters.
The Deputy Interior Minister reassured the public that a recovery plan is in place, and the government is committed to helping Bangkok residents return to their normal lives and occupations swiftly.
