Kamphaeng phet: Developing water resources in the Khlong Khlung basin supports water management and enhances sustainable water security. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, recently visited Kamphaeng Phet Province to evaluate the progress of water resource development and management initiatives in the region. She was accompanied by a delegation and received by key officials including Mr. Piya Lueutikulwong, Director of Irrigation Office Region 4, and other project directors.

According to Thai News Agency, the visit included briefings on the ongoing and future plans for water management in the Khlong Khlung River Basin. The development plan focuses on improving the efficiency of water systems to support consumption, agriculture, and tackle flood and drought challenges. The region currently benefits from five medium-sized irrigation projects covering over 140,857 rai, along with small-scale projects that further extend the irrigated area.

Key developments include the construction of the Khlong Khlung Reservoir and water distribution systems for the Khlong Nam Khao and Khlong Khlung reservoirs. These projects, once completed, are expected to significantly improve irrigation and water management, bolstering the region's capacity to handle water-related demands and issues.

During the site visit, Ms. Tiyapairat also assessed the Ban Wang Hin sluice gate project, aimed at enhancing water management efficiency in Khlong Khlung District. The project, upon receiving budget approval for fiscal years 2027-2028, will store 48,000 cubic meters of water, benefiting both agricultural and domestic needs and improving flood mitigation efforts.

The initiatives are set to ensure sustainable water security and improve the quality of life in the Khlong Khlung District by providing a robust framework for efficient water management and disaster mitigation.
