Sukhothai: Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, has emphasized that the Irrigation Office Region 4 will oversee water resources management during the rainy season to ensure an adequate water supply throughout the region. She highlighted the importance of efficient water allocation to meet the needs of all sectors involved.
According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Minister visited Sukhothai to monitor water management and resource development projects under the responsibility of Irrigation Region 4. The visit was part of preparations for the rainy season, focusing on managing water in river basins, planning drainage, and monitoring high-risk areas. The aim is to align water allocation plans with available resources and sectoral needs. She was accompanied by several key officials, including Mr. Noparit Sirikosol, Governor of Sukhothai Province, and Mr. Piya Lueutikulwong, Director of Irrigation Office 4, among others.
Mr. Piya Lueutikulwong stated that the Irrigation Office Region 4, along with affiliated agencies under the Royal Irrigation Department, is vigorously implementing directives from the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The focus is on monitoring water situations and managing resources to ensure efficient allocation. The office is expediting the development of key water resources and irrigation systems to enhance water storage capacity and security for both the public and the agricultural sector.
Moreover, preparations are underway to address the water situation during the rainy season by integrating water management in river basins and planning drainage. High-risk areas are being continuously monitored to minimize potential impacts on the public. Water allocation plans are being developed in alignment with available resources and sector needs, with ongoing projects being closely monitored to ensure timely completion.
The director further noted that the Irrigation Office Region 4 will fully implement the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives' policies and directives. By collaborating with all sectors, they aim to enhance water management efficiency, ensure water security, and sustainably reduce the impact on the local population.
