Bangkok: Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior, convened the 1/2568 meeting of the Subcommittee on Solving Problems of Public Land, Abandoned Private Land, and other land-related issues under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior. The meeting, which took place at the Ratchabophit Meeting Room in the Damrong Rajanubhab Building, was attended by key officials including Mr. Chamnanwit Terat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Mrs. Panitawadi Prachanakorn, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Lands, among others. The meeting was also accessible via an online system.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting focused on the appointment of a working group dedicated to addressing province-level land issues. The subcommittee reviewed the progress made by this working group in resolving land-related challenges that fall under the Ministry of Interior’s operations. These challenges were categorized into three main areas: five cases that can be ordered directly by the Ministry, ten urgent cases, and 35 cases requiring collaboration with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for a strategic resolution plan to be implemented within 15 days, with a goal of resolving all cases within one year.
Additionally, the meeting addressed specific concerns raised by the Tai Dam community in Ban Thap Chan, who have been actively seeking resolution for their land disputes in the Thung Pak Kho area, Ban Na Derm District, Surat Thani Province. The community is advocating for the expedited resolution of issues involving 77 plots of land, totaling 1,408 rai, due to ongoing disputes over area boundaries.
