Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri Prepares for No-Confidence Motion Amid Senate Election Collusion Allegations

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri has expressed readiness to face scrutiny from the opposition regarding a potential no-confidence motion against the government. He acknowledged knowing Witthaya Khampuang but denied involvement in any collusion related to the Senate elections.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Songsak commented on the opposition's plan to submit a no-confidence motion, acknowledging it as a standard procedure for government scrutiny by parliament members. He emphasized the government's preparedness for examination concerning its work, underscoring that this remains the primary focus.

In addressing whether discussions on Senate collusion pertain to the government, Mr. Songsak stated that such discussions should involve the government's work, including the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and ministers responsible for public welfare. He noted that this determination ultimately lies with the Parliament's Speaker and their decision on whether it will be included on the agenda.

When questioned about the involvement of Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu and Mr. Witthaya Khampuang in the Senate election collusion, Mr. Songsak humorously responded before mentioning his attendance at a royal cremation ceremony, where he interacted with many attendees. He acknowledged knowing Mr. Witthaya due to their respective duties but denied any deeper connection.

Mr. Songsak firmly refuted any allegations linking him to collusion, emphasizing that the Senator selection process adheres to specific legal frameworks.
