Phatthalung: The Department of Physical Education has embarked on a mission to train exemplary community sports administrators across 14 southern provinces, with the goal of fostering community engagement and promoting a culture of sports and exercise for individuals of all ages.
According to Thai News Agency, the initiative was launched through a project aimed at enhancing the capabilities of sports personnel in sustainable community sports management. The training program, targeting community sports managers, commenced at the Siva Royal Hotel in Mueang Phatthalung District, Phatthalung Province. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Tharawut Chuaykird, Deputy Governor of Phatthalung Province, alongside Mr. Surat Charanoyothin, Director of Tourism and Sports for Phatthalung Province, and various government and private sector representatives.
Mr. Tharawut Chuaykird emphasized during the ceremony that this training represents a flagship initiative of the Department of Physical Education. It is designed to equip local sports personnel with modern sports management knowledge, enabling them to organize sports and exercise activities that encourage community participation. The ultimate aim is to embed sports and exercise into the daily lives of people of all ages, thereby contributing to robust and sustainable community development.
The training activity is focused on two primary objectives: firstly, to provide community sports management training to physical education officers and related sports personnel; and secondly, to empower trainees to utilize their knowledge in promoting sports and physical activities for children, youth, and the general public. This approach also emphasizes environmental friendliness and aims to foster sustainable income opportunities for local communities.
The comprehensive three-day training course, scheduled for December 23-25, 2026, will see participation from representatives of local administrative organizations, physical education officers, and sports volunteers and exercise leaders from the 14 targeted provinces.
