Director-General Orders Rear Protection for Provinces Along Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration has issued a directive to safeguard the rear areas of seven provinces situated along the Thai-Cambodian border. The directive underscores the necessity of ensuring the safety of Thai citizens in these regions and highlights the importance of effective management to enable the military to concentrate fully on border protection.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nirat Phongsitthaworn, the Director-General, provided specific instructions to the provincial administrations in the border areas. The provinces have been ordered to prepare comprehensive plans to ensure the rear areas are fully protected. These plans are to be adjusted to reflect current realities and ensure the safety of the population.

The administrative sector has been designated as the primary coordinator, tasked with ensuring collaboration among all units to protect public safety. Subdistrict and village headmen, along with village defense volunteers, are instructed to closely monitor the situation and keep the public informed to prevent panic driven by misinformation. Should evacuations become necessary, they are to be executed smoothly and without confusion.

Continuous administrative communication is mandated around the clock, and the presence of the Provincial Administrative Organization and civil servants in their areas of responsibility is required at all times. Mr. Nirat emphasized the importance of effectively managing the situation to alleviate public distress and support the military in maintaining border security without additional concerns.
