Director Jarong Offers to Care for Deceased Rider’s Children After Fatal Accident

Nonthaburi: Director Jarong, head of the Investigation and Special Affairs Division at the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has publicly apologized to the family of Mr. Sornarin Nakongsi, a 43-year-old delivery rider who tragically lost his life in a collision with Jarong's pickup truck. In a gesture of responsibility, Jarong has offered to care for Nakongsi's two children. He admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the incident but denied any intention of substituting the driver.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place at the Bang Rak Noi interchange in Mueang District, where Jarong was found to have a blood alcohol level of 189 milligrams per cent. He was arrested and taken to Bang Sri Mueang Police Station for further legal proceedings and was later released on bail, leveraging his position as an official.

On May 29, 2026, Jarong addressed the media at the Bang Sri Muang Police Station, expressing regret over the incident and its impact on the image of the NACC. He extended his apologies to both the deceased's family and the NACC office. Jarong emphasized his commitment to supporting Nakongsi's children, promising to ensure their education and act as a father figure.

Jarong recounted the events of the accident, clarifying that he was driving alone and attributing any confusion about a driver change to a misunderstanding. He described the chaotic scene following the crash, where he was surrounded by a group of teenagers on motorcycles amidst the rain, initially believing another vehicle had hit his car.

His lawyer confirmed that the investigation is proceeding as expected, assuring that Jarong will take full responsibility for the incident. Arrangements have been made to meet with the deceased's relatives to discuss compensation and support.

Jarong concluded by expressing his sorrow over the incident and pledged to attend Nakongsi's funeral daily until the ceremonies conclude.
