Saraburi: A young man riding a dirt bike escaped a swarm of wasps and fell into a ravine, leading to his death.
According to Thai News Agency, Saraburi Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers received a report from a group of dirt bike riders stating that their friend, Mr. Noppadol, 38, was stung by a swarm of wasps while riding in the Khao Huai Phi Lok area of Champak Phaeo Subdistrict, Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province. This caused him and his friends to ride away in different directions, resulting in Mr. Noppadol becoming separated from the group.
Mr. Noppadol had been missing since the afternoon of May 1, when he and 10 friends embarked on a dirt bike trip. After the wasp attack, his friends searched for him but found no trace. They alerted authorities on the morning of May 2 to assist in the search. The search was challenged by rough terrain, obstructive tree branches, rain, and slippery mud. Authorities used off-road vehicles and dirt bikes to navigate the forest, eventually locating Mr. Noppadol’s white dirt bike lying on its side. His body was found in a ravine about 10 meters deep, lying on its back.
The rescue team faced significant challenges moving the body down the mountain, a process that took nearly nine hours. Kaeng Khoi Police have sent Mr. Noppadol’s body for a detailed autopsy to determine the cause of death. The friends who accompanied him on the motocross trip will be questioned as part of the investigation to conclude the case file on his death.
