Doosan Bears score 30 runs to set KBO scoring record

The Doosan Bears established a new scoring record in South Korean baseball Wednesday. The Bears destroyed the Kia Tigers 30-6 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in the southwestern city of Gwangju in their Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular-season game. The 30 runs are the most ever scored by a team in a KBO game. The previous record was 27, scored by the Samsung Lions in a 27-5 win over the LG Twins in May 1997. The Bears pounded out 28 hits and drew 13 walks against nine Tigers pitchers in the rout. Every Bears starter had a hit and scored a run. The 24-run margin was also the biggest in league history. The Bears scored a run in the top of the first inning before the Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom second. The Bears then came right back with seven runs in the top of the third, and the historic rout was on. They added a run in the fourth, five runs in the fifth, 11 runs in the sixth and five more runs in the seventh. Jared Young hit his first KBO home run for the Bears. Source: Yo nhap News Agency
