Bangkok: Dr. Mallika launched her candidacy for Bangkok Governor, promoting her "HUMAN INNOVATION" policy, which aims to use AI to solve urban problems such as air pollution, flooding, traffic, and 24-hour security. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is preparing to accept applications for the gubernatorial candidate.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Mallika Boonmeetrakul Mahasuk emphasized her "Modern Human" concept during her candidacy launch, aiming to provide citizens with immediate improvements in quality of life. She plans to utilize AI and modern technology in city management, including traffic systems, CCTV, and real-time city management. Additionally, she proposes addressing the PM2.5 dust problem with her "AI and Rain to Wash Away Dust" concept, setting KPIs every 3-7 months. Her plans also include implementing a flood detection radar system to analyze cloud formations, rainfall, and drainage systems, and transforming Bangkok into a "24-Hour Safe City."
Dr. Mallika's policy includes reducing the cost of living, stimulating the economy, and increasing people's income. She warns that if these issues are not addressed, 400,000 to 500,000 people in Bangkok could face unemployment, particularly recent graduates. Her strategy involves creating an e-commerce platform called "Application Hub e-commerce," akin to TikTok, which will leverage AI to generate income and create jobs. Additionally, she aims to promote "street food" as a crucial soft power asset for Bangkok.
In preparation for the upcoming elections, a meeting was held in Bangkok to discuss the registration process for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMA) elections and the Bangkok Governor election at the Irawat Pattana Building, Bangkok City Hall 2 (Din Daeng).
Ms. Kanya Asawamekhin, Director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Public Relations Office, chaired the meeting and outlined the media coverage guidelines for the gubernatorial candidate registration period, from May 24 to June 1, 2026. The guidelines include a lottery for OB van parking and live broadcast locations to ensure fairness, along with instructions for reporting on election day, June 28.
The BMA has established an election coordination center for Bangkok City Council members and the Governor election at the Rattanakhosin Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), to facilitate coordination for media and related agencies.
