EGCO Group wins Asia Green Financing award

Bangkok, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) received the 'Green Financing Deal of the Year' award for its successful issuance of its first Green Bond worth THB7 billion in November 2023, an important step that reaffirms the company's commitment to driving sustainability goals. Dr. Jiraporn Sirikham, President of EGCO Group, said that the Green Financing Deal of the Year award reaffirms EGCO Group's success in presenting financial transactions to help drive the company's sustainable growth in line with the direction of 'Cleaner, Smarter and Stronger to drive sustainable growth', which aims to expand investment in clean energy and renewable energy power plants to achieve the goal of increasing the proportion of electricity generation from renewable energy to 30% by 2030, including the use of modern technology to improve the power plants that use primary fuels in the portfolio to be more environmentally friendly, in order to jointly drive sustainable development and energy transition in the Asian region.' EGCO Group offered its first Green Bond to institutional and major investors in November 2023, totaling 5 series worth 7 billion baht, and received interest and confidence from more than 80 investors who expressed their investment demand, which is 3.15 times the original offering value of 6.5 billion baht. The company therefore increased the reserve bonds for additional offering (Greenshoes) by another 500 million baht to meet the demand and help expand the new investor base. This Green Bond has been rated AA+ by TRIS Rating and is issued under EGCO Group's 2023 bond program worth 30 billion baht, with Bangkok Bank, Krungthai Bank and Bank of Ayudhya acting as Joint Green Structuring Advisors and underwriters for this bond issue.
