Elderly Man Rescued After Being Swept Off Road by Floodwaters

Tha chang: Rescue workers and villagers mobilized to help a 65-year-old man who was swept off the road by floodwaters and stuck at the base of a rubber tree. More than 20 rescue workers and villagers joined forces to rescue the man on the Ton Sai-Ban Tha Baek Road in Tha Chang District. He was subsequently taken to safety by Tha Chang Hospital.

According to Thai News Agency, the victim recounted that he was traveling home in Pak Chalui Subdistrict when he encountered water on the road. He did not anticipate the strength of the current, which ultimately swept both his car and himself onto the side of the road. Fortunately, the vehicle became lodged at the base of a rubber tree, preventing it from overturning.

The flooding situation in Chaiya District remains concerning. The Surat Thani governor recently declared Chaiya District a flood disaster area following flash floods that inundated homes and farmland across seven districts. Additionally, two more districts, Don Sak and Kanchanadit, are under close surveillance.
