Bangkok: The Election Commission has reassured the public that referendum ballots are protected under the law, addressing concerns about their security. Preventative measures have been implemented to ensure the process adheres to legal standards.
According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission of Thailand responded to reports suggesting that "referendum ballots are unsafe," labeling such claims as false. They confirmed that the ballots contain special codes, symbols, or other text designed to prevent forgery. These measures comply with the Election Commission's regulations on referendums, B.E. 2565 (2022), Section 68, paragraph three.
The law allows the Election Commission to prescribe additional codes, symbols, or other special text on the ballots without prior notice to prevent forgery. The referendum ballot is essential for eligible voters to cast their votes directly and secretly in alignment with their will. The Office of the Election Commission emphasizes its commitment to ensuring that the referendum and election processes are conducted "honestly, fairly, and in accordance with the law at every step."
