Bangkok: A bus carrying employees crashed into a ditch on Asia Road, heading north, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, injuring 21 people. It is believed that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The driver has not been found yet.
According to Thai News Agency, a rear-view camera of a good citizen captured the moment when a shuttle bus carrying employees from a factory was driving normally on the road before suddenly losing control, overturning, and falling into a ditch in the middle of Asia Road, heading north, at kilometer 21, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. After the incident, all 25 employees on the bus scrambled to escape, soaking wet. There were 21 injured people, 20 women and 1 man, who were taken to the hospital by officers. At the scene of the accident, traces of the vehicle skidding off the side of the road for a distance of more than 50 meters were found. Officers had to close 2-3 lanes of Asia Road at intervals to retrieve the wreckage of the bus from the ditch.
As for the cause of the accident, it is assumed that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Initially, he has not been found. The authorities will track him down for questioning and take legal action.
