Lampang: The entire group known as the "5 Baht Technician Gang," which had been causing disturbances in Lampang city, has been apprehended by the police. The gang, comprised of teenagers, first saw seven of its members indicted with a court-imposed fine of 20,000 baht each, while six additional cases remain pending.
According to Thai News Agency, the emergence of gangs such as "Gang 5 Baht Technic" and "Talad Lang" in Lampang Province had led to significant public disturbances. These activities prompted Police Major General Phumipanya Nawattrakulphisut, the Lampang Provincial Police Commander, to call for an urgent police meeting and initiate a crackdown on the disruptive youths in Mueang Lampang and Khelang Nakhon.
On July 23rd, officers from Khelang Nakhon Police Station apprehended eight members of the 5 Baht Technic gang. Seven members, aged between 18 and 20, and one 16-year-old juvenile were involved. All confessed to their crimes. Most recently, as of July 25th, Pol. Col. Krisada Phankasem, Deputy Commander of Lampang Provincial Police, announced that the remaining three members, suspects in an assault case involving weapons, were also apprehended by Lampang City Police Station. These individuals include Earth, 22, a 16-year-old male juvenile, and Rin, 18, all implicated in separate assault incidents.
The Khelang Nakhon Police Station has formally charged seven non-juvenile suspects in Lampang Provincial Court, resulting in a fine without imprisonment. Meanwhile, the juvenile suspects are set to face charges in Juvenile Court on July 27th.
