Pattani: An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team successfully neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) hidden in a women's restroom at the Pattani Provincial Bus Terminal. The device, identified as a dual-detonation type, resembles those used in previous incidents. The Army Chief of Staff has mandated increased security across public areas to preempt potential threats.

According to Thai News Agency, the EOD team acted upon a report from a security guard who discovered the suspicious object. Authorities promptly cordoned off the area, and the inspection took place the following morning. The operation involved using a water cannon to neutralize the device, which was concealed in a small stainless steel bottle. The IED was found to be similar to devices used in three prior public area incidents and featured a dual-detonation system akin to the one from the PTT Taluboh incident.

In response to the threat, stringent security measures have been ordered for public spaces, as authorities suspect additional contraband may still be present. General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army, visited the bus terminal to oversee the investigation and to boost the morale of the staff. He emphasized the importance of heightened security, particularly in public areas frequently targeted for such attacks.

Officials continue to be vigilant, warning that more explosives could be hidden in public areas. Business owners are urged to inspect their premises carefully and report any suspicious findings to authorities without delay.
