Erawan blast suspect freed on B1m bail

The Bangkok Military Court on Wednesday (Dec 13) granted bail to Wanna Maisaroh Suansan, a Thai Muslim woman arrested for alleged involvement in the explosion at the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection on Aug 17, 2015.

Ms Wanna was arrested on Nov 21 at Suvarnabhumi airport on her return to Thailand from Turkey.

She has been charged with conspiracy to murder, attempted murder and illegal use of explosives, in connection with the bombing, in which 20 people were killed and 130 others injured.

Ms Wanna was brought by police to the court on Dec 13 to seek approval for an extension of her detention. Her lawyer filed a bail request with assets worth 1 million baht as collateral.

The military court approved the bail request, with conditions that she must not travel abroad and meddle with evidence in the case.

Ms Wanna was expected to be released from the Central Woman Correctional Institution on Wednesday at 4pm.
