Ex-Husband Arrested for Fatal Stabbing of Nephew Amid Jealousy Over Ex-Wife’s New Marriage

Nakhon nayok: A man driven by jealousy over his ex-wife has been arrested after fatally stabbing her nephew. The incident unfolded when the ex-husband, Mr. Thongdee, began harassing his ex-wife's home, eventually leading to a confrontation that ended in tragedy.

According to Thai News Agency, the Nakhon Nayok City Police Station received a report early this morning, at 00:30, regarding an assault at a house in Moo 3, Tha Chang Subdistrict, Mueang District. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 22-year-old Mr. Surachai in front of the house with stab wounds below his right ribcage and on his left collarbone. The perpetrator was identified as Mr. Thongdee, aged 54.

Investigations revealed that Mr. Thongdee was the ex-husband of the deceased's aunt, Ms. Som. After their separation, Ms. Som remarried and moved in with her new husband, Mr. Weerasak. Disturbed by this, Mr. Thongdee resorted to throwing stones at their house, which led to Mr. Surachai confronting him on the night of the incident. The confrontation, shrouded in darkness and away from streetlights, escalated to violence, resulting in Mr. Surachai being fatally stabbed. He managed to return to the house, inform others of his attacker, and then succumbed to his injuries.

Police at the scene collected evidence, including a flashlight, scissors, and a utility knife. Mr. Thongdee was later apprehended about 5 kilometers from his home. The weapon used in the crime, a pair of paper scissors modified into a sharp point, was also recovered.

During police questioning, Mr. Thongdee confessed to being upset over the end of his marriage with Ms. Som and her new relationship with Mr. Keng. He claimed he was attempting to reconcile with her but reacted violently when he encountered Mr. Surachai, whom he believed was about to attack him. Initially charged with "intentional homicide," Mr. Thongdee has been handed over to the investigating officers for further proceedings.
