EXAT Warns of SMS Scam Targeting Expressway Users

Bangkok: The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has issued a warning to the public about a recent scam involving SMS messages. Scammers are impersonating EXAT and sending messages demanding payment for expressway tolls.

According to Thai News Agency, these fraudulent messages claim that recipients have bypassed toll booths and include a link for payment. EXAT has clarified that it does not send SMS messages to collect tolls or fines. If there are any violations related to toll booths, EXAT will send a written request for payment instead.

EXAT advises the public not to trust these messages and to avoid clicking on any links or providing personal or financial information. For further assistance or to report such scams, individuals can contact the EXAT Call Center at 1543, which is available 24 hours a day.
