Nakhon ratchasima: A female factory worker has filed a police report alleging sexual harassment by a driver responsible for transporting factory workers. Police are currently preparing to issue a summons. The company attempted to locate the driver at his residence but discovered he had already packed his belongings and fled.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in Suang Neun District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, when the worker, identified as Ms. A (pseudonym), captured a video of the driver, Mr. Veera, asking for a hug. Ms. A, 21, had just commenced her employment at the factory and was on her way home when she mistakenly boarded the wrong bus, leaving her as the last passenger. She alleges that the driver sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle.
The incident prompted Ms. A to visit the Cho Ho Police Station, accompanied by her mother-in-law, to lodge a formal complaint. She recounted how, after realizing she was on the wrong route, she requested to be dropped off at a gas station to call for a taxi. The driver refused, citing concerns for her safety and offered to take her home instead. However, upon stopping at the gas station, he locked the vehicle doors and attempted to harass her.
Ms. A recorded the ordeal as evidence while the driver made inappropriate remarks and touched her inappropriately. She managed to escape the vehicle and sought assistance. The driver later approached her in his personal car, claiming his behavior was merely a joke and attempted to prove his identity with his national ID.
Ms. A revealed that the driver had a history of similar misconduct with other female passengers, who often remained silent due to fear and shame. She hopes to inspire other victims to come forward and report their experiences. The transportation company has since reached out to Ms. A to express their responsibility, while police proceed with their investigation.
Authorities are urging any additional victims to report their encounters, as they work to ensure justice is served. The case remains under investigation, with a summons issued for Mr. Veera to respond to the allegations.
