False Reports of Martial Law and School Closures Debunked by ISOC Region 4

Bangkok: Fake news circulating on social media has been debunked by the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 (ISOC Region 4), with officials clarifying that claims regarding school closures and martial law declarations are unfounded.

According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Ekwirith Chobchuporn, the Deputy Spokesperson of ISOC Region 4 Forward, addressed the widespread dissemination of false messages and images. The misinformation suggested that the Commander of the 4th Army Region had ordered the closure of schools and declared martial law in five provinces, using violent language. Colonel Chobchuporn emphasized that no such orders or policies have been issued by any security agency or the Commander of the 4th Army Region.

The ISOC Region 4 highlighted that security operations in the southern border provinces are guided by legal principles, rule of law, and peaceful coexistence, with a focus on educational development and ensuring safety for all citizens. The spread of distorted information can lead to misunderstandings, panic, and a decline in public trust in the region.

Officials have urged the public to verify information before sharing and to rely on official government sources or reputable media outlets for news. They have warned that legal action will be taken against those who disseminate false information that causes damage.
