Bangkok: The price of mixed-size chicken eggs at the farm gate has been adjusted to 3.80 baht per egg, after being frozen for over 3 months. This will take effect tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, four egg-laying chicken farmer cooperatives have announced an adjustment to the recommended farm-gate price of mixed chicken eggs to 3.80 baht per egg, effective tomorrow. This marks the first price increase in over three months, after prices had been frozen since the end of March.
The network of egg-laying chicken cooperatives, comprising the Paedriew Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, the Chonburi Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, and the Mae Nam Noi Basin Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, has announced to its members and egg-laying chicken farmers that the recommended farm-gate price for mixed-size eggs weighing 20.5 kilograms or more is 3.80 baht per egg, or 114 baht per tray. This is an increase of 20 satang per egg from the previous price and will remain in effect until further price changes.
Mr. Pramoch Chutabtim, president of the Egg Producers Association, stated that egg production has not yet returned to normal, even though the weather has eased from the hot season. The situation remains volatile, and disease outbreaks have been reported in some areas, causing some hens to reduce egg production. As a result, the supply of eggs to the market remains unstable.
Mr. Pramoch stated that although the energy situation has begun to ease, the previously high prices of animal feed raw materials have not yet decreased, keeping the cost of raising laying hens high. However, if animal feed raw material prices decrease in the future, it will help alleviate the pressure on farmers' production costs.
Meanwhile, demand for chicken eggs has improved compared to the previous school break, following the reopening of educational institutions and a recovery in consumer purchasing power. Government stimulus measures, such as the "Half-Price Plus" co-payment scheme, have contributed to this consumption recovery, bringing supply and demand in the market closer together.
Mr. Pramoch stated that livestock farmers have consistently strived to maintain prices at a suitable level and expect that this recommended price adjustment will help farmers continue production. He also hopes to maintain these price levels for the remainder of the year, provided no unusual factors disrupt the situation.
Egg production is currently being affected by erratic weather conditions and the continued presence of Egg Drop Syndrome (EDS) in some areas. This has resulted in reduced egg production among some hens, leading to inconsistent egg supply to the market. The Department of Livestock Development continues to implement proactive surveillance measures and advises farmers to strengthen biosecurity systems within their farms to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks. As this disease is not transmissible to humans, it does not affect the safety of egg consumption.
Previously, the network of egg-laying chicken farmer cooperatives adjusted the recommended farm-gate price of mixed chicken eggs from 3.20 baht per egg to 3.40 baht per egg on March 17, 2026, before increasing it to 3.60 baht per egg from March 28, 2026, and maintaining that price for over three months due to a slowdown in consumer purchasing power during school holidays. However, after schools reopened, coupled with government stimulus measures that boosted purchasing power and consumption, the demand for chicken eggs improved. Following this, the network announced an increase in the recommended price to 3.80 baht per egg, effective July 6, 2026.
