Buriram: A domestic argument between a father and son in Buriram Province turned violent, resulting in injuries to both parties. The conflict arose from a disagreement over "Sami Choti" and the monk Phra Payom.

According to Thai News Agency, the altercation occurred at the home of Mr. Praiwan, also known as Jack, a 30-year-old resident of Moo 16, Ban Siliam Nonthong, Tambon Hu Thamnop, Amphoe Pakham. The argument began when Mr. Jack, who was resting in a hammock outside, overheard his father, Mr. Lamduan, and some neighbors discussing allegations of embezzlement against Phra Payom. The discussion included criticisms of monks in general, which led Mr. Jack to intervene, defending Phra Payom's teachings. This defense angered his father, a staunch supporter of Phra Payom, escalating the argument into a physical fight.

During the altercation, Mr. Jack used a rake to strike his father in the abdomen and torso. In retaliation, Mr. Lamduan, who had been drinking, grabbed a knife from inside the house and slashed his son's left arm, necessitating 13 stitches. The incident has not yet led to any charges, as no formal complaints have been filed with the police.

The village headman confirmed that the fight stemmed from differing opinions regarding "Sami Choti" and Phra Payom. The disagreement intensified due to Mr. Lamduan's intoxicated state, ultimately leading to the violent confrontation with his son.
