Bangkok: The Federation of Land Transport Associations has put forward proposals aimed at resolving the ongoing oil crisis, warning of further action if the government fails to act swiftly.
According to Thai News Agency, the Federation of Land Transport of Thailand passed a resolution on March 18, 2026, outlining several key proposals for the government. These include freezing the price of diesel fuel at no more than 30 baht per liter for a period of 60 days, in an effort to manage the current fuel shortage and eliminate the quota system. Additionally, they propose controlling the price difference at the refinery to no more than 2 baht per liter and addressing traffic congestion at Laem Chabang Port by limiting the duration trucks can enter and exit the port to 3-4 hours.
The federation has issued a warning that if the government fails to implement clear measures, they might escalate their actions to "stopping all transportation services." Despite the crisis, they have confirmed that transportation fees have not been increased, and they have urged manufacturers to refrain from exploiting the situation by raising prices.
The federation also clarified that the oil shortage experienced in certain areas is not a result of transportation issues but is linked to the quota system and the behavior of some refineries. They have called upon government agencies to investigate these issues and provide clarity promptly.
