Fierce Clashes Escalate on Thai-Cambodian Border

Surin: Fierce clashes continue on the border between Surin and Sisaket provinces. Clashes continue on the Thai-Cambodian border in several areas, including Surin and Sisaket provinces. Cambodia used BM-21 missiles and drones to attack, while Thailand retaliated and launched an offensive, gaining control of several key areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the 2nd Army Region has summarized the latest situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. The clashes in the area remain highly violent, with centers of conflict in the Takwai area, Surin Province, and Huai Ta Maria and Phu Makheua areas, Si Saket Province.

Cambodian troops continue their tactical operations, aiming to retake key targets in the area using multiple rocket launchers (BM-21), 100mm mortars, and attack drones. They heavily bombard the conflict zone and rear areas, causing damage to civilian areas. Drones are also being used for attacks and GPS tracking of military targets inland.

On the Thai side, a systematic response has allowed forces to control several key areas and continue to expand control according to the operational plan. Overall, personnel morale remains high, and the situation is under control.

Meanwhile, Admiral Thadawut Thadpitakkul, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Navy and Secretary-General of the Maritime Security Command, clarified reports of naval forces seizing Koh Kong and Koh Yo to pressure Cambodia. He stated that it was a naval operation aimed at ensuring security and not intended to seize Koh Kong or Koh Yo. He added that anything threatening Thai personnel and civilians in the area must be destroyed, emphasizing this as a principle.

Regarding the declaration of maritime territorial waters in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces to intercept Thai ships transporting oil and military supplies to Cambodia via the sea, the Defense Council meeting today will declare additional controlled areas in provinces with a total maritime boundary of 12 nautical miles: Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Chonburi, and Rayong, in order to improve the efficiency of operations.
