Bangkok: A fire broke out at a large 38-story condominium in Ton Plearn on the 33rd floor of the building. Residents ran for their lives in panic. Condo management rushed to evacuate.
According to Thai News Agency, at 2:03 PM, building officials or the juristic person of a condominium in the Pinklao area called the Bangkok Radio Center via 199 to report a fire inside the condominium. The initial fire started in a room on the 33rd floor, with thick black smoke billowing from that floor and emanating from outside. Condominium juristic officials are currently evacuating residents to the lower floors.
After officials arrived at the scene, they found that some residents of the condo had already evacuated from the front garden of the building. Many of them were out of breath and in shock. Most of those who had come down to the area were residents of the 20th floor. Initially, one person was found suffering from smoke inhalation. Officials are assisting them, and some have been taken to the hospital.
The latest report from the Rama 199 Radio Center is that the fire is now under control and that the building’s operations team is searching for people trapped on each floor to evacuate them to the lower levels of the building.
