Maha sarakham: Two houses were completely destroyed by fire, leaving one of the victims, an 81-year-old woman and her relatives homeless. They lost over 10 pieces of silk fabric. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, and it was discovered that the son of the house where the fire originated has a history of drug use.

According to Thai News Agency, fire and rescue officials, along with one water truck, mobilized to extinguish a fire at a residential area in Ban Don Nong, Kham Riang Subdistrict, Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. They quickly sprayed water to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby houses, amidst panic among local residents. After bringing the fire under control, two two-and-a-half-story houses, half wood and half concrete, were completely destroyed by the fire.

Mrs. Somjit, an 81-year-old victim of the fire, recounted that villagers shouted to inform her of the fire in front of the school. When she went to investigate, she found her house engulfed in flames. She was so shocked that she fainted, as the fire spread rapidly from a neighboring house. She expressed her sorrow at the loss of many possessions, especially her silk fabrics, which she had collected since her time as a bride and held immense sentimental value, but were all destroyed by the fire.

Officials reported that the house where the fire originated was occupied by a 26-year-old man named Sakda, who lived alone. He has a history of drug involvement and has received psychiatric treatment. He exhibits disruptive behavior, shouting at night, which has caused fear among local residents. Furthermore, he frequently sells household items such as corrugated iron sheets and other belongings, making it impossible for his parents to live with him. Investigators from the Khewa Yai Police Station have taken Sakda into custody for questioning regarding the cause of the fire.
