Fire Engulfs Girls’ Dormitory in Ang Thong Orphanage, No Injuries Reported

Ang Thong:A fire erupted in the girls' orphanage at Wat Bot Woradit temple in Pa Mok district, Ang Thong province, during the early hours. Firefighters worked for over an hour to extinguish the flames, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. The fire is initially thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

According to Thai News Agency, the blaze began around 300 AM in Building 1 of the girls' dormitory, which houses orphans and underprivileged children. Fire trucks from local municipalities and nearby areas were dispatched to tackle the fire.

Staff and teachers swiftly evacuated more than 20 female students from the building and over 100 students from nearby buildings. The children were safely relocated to a secure area in the temple courtyard and a temporary pavilion.

Despite the considerable effort by firefighters, the fire caused significant damage to one dormitory building, destroying a large amount of property, including clothing, bedding, and personal belongings.

A student reported that the fire started due to sparks from a mobile phone charging plug, which ignited nearby clothing. Investigators suspect an electrical short at the power outlet may be responsible. Authorities will conduct a detailed investigation to confirm the cause and will coordinate with agencies to ensure temporary accommodation and supplies for the affected children.
