SAMUT PRAKAN: A fire erupted at a synthetic fiber factory in the Bangpu area of Samut Prakan Province, causing significant damage estimated at no less than 20 million baht. More than 30 water trucks were deployed to combat the blaze, which took over three hours to control. The factory owner was visibly distraught, having previously suffered a similar disaster.

According to Thai News Agency, the fire was reported to Bangpoo police officers at 6:00 a.m. The incident occurred in Soi Thesaban Bangpoo 71/1 in Mueang District, prompting a coordinated response from fire engines belonging to Bangpoo Municipality and other nearby municipalities. Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the warehouse, which houses the synthetic fiber manufacturing facilities.

Pol. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwuttikul, Commander of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, arrived at the scene alongside officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the provincial administration, and the public health department. They inspected the damage and offered support to the factory owner, who was reportedly in tears over the incident, having endured a similar fire in the past.

The affected factory specializes in producing mattress and sofa fibers and consists of five interconnected buildings spread across an 8-rai area. The fire originated in the fifth building before spreading to the fourth. The factory was not operational at the time of the incident, having been closed since December 29, 67, with only a security guard present. Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
