Bangkok: A firework explosion in downtown Phetchaburi injured two people, prompting the governor to order an immediate investigation and assistance for the injured.

According to Thai News Agency, the explosion occurred in Moo 2, Ton Mamuang Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, and caused significant damage to seven houses, leading to the collapse of ceilings, punctured roofs, and scattered belongings. The injured individuals, identified as Mr. Songkran Napaprommongkol, approximately 68 years old, and his wife, have been hospitalized for treatment.

Pol. Lt. Col. Phopchanok Chalanukroh, Governor of Phetchaburi Province, has tasked Mr. Sarun Ketthong, District Chief of Mueang Phetchaburi, with spearheading an urgent investigation into the incident. The explosion, which occurred at a fireworks manufacturing and trading location, has highlighted the need for a thorough inquiry to prevent similar incidents in the future.

District Chief Sarun Ketthong has mobilized various agencies, including the Ton Mamuang Subdistrict Municipality, village leadership, rescue teams, and administrative officials, to provide immediate support to those affected. The area has been secured, and assessments of the damage are underway to facilitate government compensation and assistance. Coordination with police and technical agencies is ongoing to uncover the cause of the explosion and develop preventive measures.
