Bangkok: The Prime Minister has called upon government agencies and state enterprises to lower their flags to half-mast for three days, from April 23 to April 25, in mourning of Pope Francis’s passing.
According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Natjaree Anantasin, Secretary-General to the Cabinet, issued an urgent letter from the Office of the Secretariat of the Cabinet. This directive followed the orders of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, to all ministries, government agencies, and state enterprises. The order was made to honor His Holiness Pope Francis, the Head of the Roman Catholic Church and Vatican City State, who passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.
The letter requests cooperation from all government entities to ensure their flags are lowered to half-mast during the specified dates, which encompass three working days. This gesture signifies the nation’s respect and mourning for the late Pope Francis.
