Flash Floods Cause Severe Damage Across Multiple Thai Provinces

Accra:Uthai Thani Flash floods have caused significant damage in the Nong Luang Subdistrict of Uthai Thani Province, where an earthen dike broke, allowing water to inundate the area. The floodwaters from Mae Wong National Park surged into the Tak Daed River, leading to the dike's collapse and flooding houses in Nong Takian village, Sawang Arom District. This area, designated as a receiving zone, experienced extensive flooding that eroded roads and submerged rice paddies.

According to Thai News Agency, the road connecting villages to Lad Yao District in Nakhon Sawan Province was washed away, forcing residents to take a detour over 10 kilometers long. Although water levels are now receding, many homes remain flooded, and residents are beginning to assess the damage and move belongings back into their homes.

In Ang Thong Province, the situation is stabilizing along the Chao Phraya River after the dam reduced water discharge. However, six districts remain affected, impacting over 2,200 households. Ang Thong Technical College has established a vocational volunteer center in Village 5, Phong Pheng Subdistrict, Pa Mok District, offering free motorcycle inspections and oil changes to flood victims, with plans to inspect household electrical appliances once water levels drop further.

Ratchaburi Province has also been severely affected, with the Panya Farm in Chet Samian Subdistrict, Photharam District, experiencing a flood crisis. Water levels, reaching nearly 1 meter, have persisted for over 10 days, sweeping away all breeding stock of ornamental fish, including balloon fish, guppies, and goldfish. The farm's owner, Mr. Panya Kamphuk, reported severe losses, as all fish ready for sale were lost, leaving significant damage and pollution in the flooded area.
