Flood Relief Payments Distributed to Over 110,000 Households

Bangkok:Flood relief payments have been distributed to 110,000 households, with an additional 50,000 households slated to receive their payments today.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, provided an update on the relief efforts at the Joint Flood Information Center. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) confirmed that 160,000 households have been impacted by the floods. Of these, 110,000 have already received payments totaling over 917 million baht, as per the Cabinet's resolution for flood relief.

The compensation rates during the 2026 rainy season were set at 9,000 baht and 5,000 baht, depending on the criteria. On October 11th, payments were made to 36,000 households in several provinces, including Bangkok and Chonburi, amounting to 282 million baht. The fifth round of payments, planned for today, will cover 50,000 households with funds totaling approximately 378 million baht.

However, around 2,258 households were unable to receive their funds due to issues with linking their PromptPay accounts to their national IDs or using the names of deceased individuals. The DDPM will coordinate with local administrative bodies to rectify these issues before reinstating the funds for transfer.

In Bangkok, 31,000 households applied for relief payments, with 30,000 successfully receiving over 221 million baht. The affected districts include Huai Khwang and Prawet, among others. Local authorities are responsible for verifying and screening application data, which is then sent to the DDPM and the Government Savings Bank for verification before funds are transferred.

Additionally, the government offers a loan program for small business owners affected by the floods, with loans up to 300,000 baht per person. This initiative aims to support business recovery by providing funds for equipment repair and inventory purchase, with a 0% interest rate for the first three months. The program has been in place since September 26, 2026.

Affected individuals are advised to ensure their registration information is accurate and PromptPay accounts are correctly linked to their national IDs. Any discrepancies should be addressed promptly to facilitate the swift distribution of assistance.
