Ang thong: Flooding in Phong Pheng Subdistrict, Ang Thong Province, has resulted in water breaking through roads, leading to widespread inundation of 1,376 homes. The water levels continue to rise, causing concern among residents and officials alike.
According to Thai News Agency, the latest flooding situation developed rapidly as water breached the road, spreading to a village near a dam in Village No. 5, Phong Pheng Subdistrict, Pa Mok District. This area is located less than 100 meters from a dam that collapsed the previous afternoon. The inflow of water has affected homes downstream despite efforts by officials to barricade the water with big bags and soil. However, water continues to bubble along the road at several points, prompting villagers to quickly relocate their belongings to safer areas.
Residents have resorted to constructing floating rafts to safeguard their possessions, covering them with tarps to shield them from the rain. They reported the rapid surge of water that reached over a meter in height in just 20 minutes. Fortunately, due to preparedness, the extent of damage was minimized.
Many villagers with single-story homes have moved their belongings to the roadside, despite the constant movement of large trucks. The demand for tents has risen as there are currently not enough to accommodate all affected residents. The latest reports indicate that 1,376 homes in Ang Thong Province remain flooded as the situation continues to evolve.
