Flooding Hits Nan City Center, Pua District Begins Cleanup

Nan: Torrential flooding inundated parts of Nan province on Thursday after river levels breached floodwalls in the provincial seat and flash floods damaged hundreds of homes in Pua district. In Nan town, the Nan River reached a peak level of 8.56 meters early Thursday morning, overflowing the local 8.50-meter floodwall and submerging downtown areas. Rescue teams and charity groups, including the Friends in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation, have deployed to evacuate residents and provide emergency aid.

According to Thai News Agency, the severe overflow follows intense flash floods that devastated Pua district earlier in the week. In Ban Rong village, Pua district, mud and debris covered streets as light rain continued to fall. Aerial footage showed damage to all 380 households in the village, where floodwaters swept away vehicles, collapsed walls, and destroyed property.

Local authorities and aid organizations are currently operating across affected areas to assist stranded residents and clear mud and debris.

Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaiseth visited Nan province early this morning, taking a helicopter flyover to inspect the flood situation, assess the impact, and monitor water levels from above. He then traveled to Pua district to encourage affected residents and closely oversee local relief efforts.
