Nonthaburi: A group of football players and their wives have been accused of assaulting a couple following a football match in Nonthaburi Province. Police are preparing to issue summonses to the entire group involved in the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the altercation occurred after a football match where the victims, Mr. Warachai, 37, and Ms. Mueanfan, 34, were attacked by members of the opposing team. The confrontation was allegedly sparked by a sarcastic remark made by the girlfriend of one of the opposing team members after losing the match 0-3. The situation quickly escalated when vulgar language and beer bottles were hurled, nearly hitting a pregnant woman nearby.
The Facebook page "Here in Nonthaburi" shared a video showing the violent incident, which took place in front of a food stall in Pak Kret District. The footage captured a group of 4-5 women, known for their aggressive behavior, engaging in a physical altercation with another woman amidst a crowd of onlookers. Authorities reportedly attempted to intervene during the chaos.
At Pak Kret Police Station, the victims identified three perpetrators: Mr. Thapthep or "Arm Yai," 28; Ms. Supichaya or "Champion," 27; and Mr. Piyawat or "Ohm Muangthong," 29. Summonses have been issued for these individuals to appear for questioning by the investigative team.
The victims recounted that as they were leaving the football field on Soi Phra Mae Karun, the opposing group confronted them with abusive language, prompting an immediate physical attack. Mr. Warachai expressed concern for their safety, as the attackers were aware of their residence details.
Police have initially questioned the victims and are proceeding with the issuance of summonses for the alleged perpetrators, charging them with "jointly committing assault." Further charges are pending, awaiting confirmation from a medical examiner.
