By the 33rd minute, Forest had taken the lead through a corner kick that ended with Murillo scoring the first goal. The second half saw Forest quickly extend their lead to 2-0 as Neco Williams set up Nicolo Savona, who capitalized on an open goal opportunity. Forest’s final goal came in the 78th minute when Omari Hutchinson’s attempt was saved by Alisson Becker, only for Morgan Gibbs-White to follow up and score.
The victory moved Nottingham Forest up to 16th place with 12 points, while Liverpool, already having lost their sixth match of the season, remained at 18 points in 11th place. Liverpool manager Arne Slott acknowledged the team’s current struggles after the game.
In other Premier League action, Manchester City faced Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. The Magpies took a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute with a goal from Harvey Barnes. Although Manchester City managed to equalize with Ruben Dias’s goal, Barnes secured a 2-1 victory for Newcastle with his second goal. This win moved Newcastle to 14th place with 15 points, while Manchester City remained third with 22 points, trailing league leaders Arsenal by four points.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continued their strong run with a 2-0 victory away at Burnley. Chelsea’s win marked their third consecutive league victory, bringing their total to 23 points and moving them into second place, just three points behind Arsenal.
